Aboriginal Forest Resource Technology Access Program

The Aboriginal Forest Resource Technology Diploma Access Program has been designed to support the success of aboriginal students who want to obtain employment in the Natural Resource sector and/or earn a diploma in Forest Resource Technology. Through the access year participants will upgrade Math, Science and English (levels dependant on initial assessments) thus providing them with the opportunity to further their education in Forestry by completing the Forest Resource Technology diploma at the College.

Participants who successfully complete the two semester Aboriginal Forest Resource Technology Diploma Access program will receive at least five credits towards a diploma in Forest Resource Technology. Participants will be supported throughout the program by an instructor who will provide guidance, support, instruction and tutoring.

After completing two semesters of training and education, participants will be placed in a supported paid summer work experience. After completing the access year and the work experience, participants will be prepared to enter the Forest Resource Technology Program or enter full time employment.
