Street Humanities - An Exploration into Education
The Street Humanities program ran from 2005-2007.
Are you interested in taking free non-credit college courses but; you can't afford tuition, books, supplies, transportation, you don't know which courses to take, you're worried that it's been too long since you were in school, or you just don't know where to begin?
Street Humanities may be for you!
You Qualify if:
- you're a marginalized woman who has experienced exclusion, poverty, barriers to learning, homelessness, and/or unemployment
- you can read and write
- you have an interest in learning and challenging yourself in a new way
- you're able to attend two evening classes each week
What's provided:
- meals
- bus passes to get to classes
- tuition, books, and materials
- study and discussion groups
- stress buster days
- support network for educational and emotional support
- tours and orientation for a gradual integration into college life
8 hours of each of the following courses will be offered:
- Anthropology
- Biology
- English
- First Nations Studies
- History
- Photography
- Religions of the world
- Sociology
