Personal statement about new media:
My interst in new media has two main expressions - one is words, language, writing (I have publications in print), anywhere, anytime, any medium; the second is as an internet user - I am an avid reader, blogger, shopper, and surfer. I am interested in how the on-line world is developing both formally, such as story structure on a commercial site, as well as informally. such as the emergence of folksonomy on interactive sites.
Peter Maides:
B.A. University of Victoria and M.A. University of Victoria
In 2006 - 2007, Peter will be instructing NMCD131: Creative Exploration, NMCD 121: Publishing I, NMCD 122: Publishing II, and NMCD 145: Design History.

Personal statement about new media:
I am interested in new media in two distinct ways: practically and philosophically. Practically, I am particularly interested in the explosion of possibility in print expression and design that has been facilitated by new technology. Philosophically, my interest is in the democratization that new media allows. That is, learning and creativity have long been the domain of an elite, those with access and power. Today, many people have access to both knowledge and means of expression in fields of print publication, on-line publication, sound engineering, and film production that would be unthinkable a few years ago.
Peter Ewert:
B.A. - Lakehead University M.A. - University of Western Ontario In 2006-2007, Peter will be instructing NMCD 111: Writing I

Personal statement about new media:
New media is providing tremendous opportunities for all humanity. I am particularly interested in how communication is being opened up in unprecedented ways, both within and between societies. We are witnessing the early stages of the resulting changes in how society functions. Personally, I use new media as an organizing tool in my activities as a writer, in political expression, and in community organization.
