A Community FASD Prevention Program: Healthier Babies - Brighter Futures (HBBF)
Healthier Babies Brighter Futures (HBBF) is a nationally recognized program that takes a three-pronged approach to FASD prevention and supporting women to have healthy pregnancies: intensive support to women at risk of alcohol and substance use during pregnancy; community education, training and awareness; and policy development.
HBBF’s Family Support Workers develop supportive relationships with women and families to provide wrap around service provided on an individual basis.
Family Support Workers:

Provide FASD prevention strategies and support

Support healthy lifestyles

Advocate for affordable housing
-
Support prenatal care
-
Promote good nutrition
-
Encourage family strengths
-
Encourage positive parent and child interactions
-
Teach parenting skills
-
Advocate for participant needs

Provide assistance with completing forms
-
Make referrals to community agencies and resources.
