Aboriginal Early Childhood Education Certificate

AECE

Learn to be a skilled, sensitive teacher of young children in early childhood settings. You will be prepared to work with children from diverse cultural backgrounds with a focus on caring for Aboriginal children in settings such as daycare centres, preschools and family development programs.

Following graduation and completion of 500 hours of work in the field, you’ll be eligible for licensing as an early childhood educator in BC and the Yukon. The program provides 50 college credits.

Admission Requirements

Successful completion of one of the following:

  • Grade 12 (with English 12 with a minimum "C" grade), or
  • ABE/CCP Advanced Certificate plus English 050 with a minimum "C" grade, or
  • GED certificate plus completion of an English assessment administered by the College, or
  • Mature student status (please consult a CNC counsellor/advisor) plus completion of an English assessment administered
  • by the College.
        • Students whose assessments show difficulties in English must participate in English upgrading before entering the program.
