Carrier Developmental Standard Term Certificate
The Carrier Developmental Standard Term Certificate Program is a credit program that prepares graduates to teach Carrier language and culture. This full-time program is being delivered in Burns Lake through a partnership between Lake Babine Nation, the University of Northern British Columbia, and the College of New Caledonia.
Upon completion of the full 3-year program, students will be eligible to apply to the BC College of Teachers for a Level One Teaching Certificate.
The full program includes three separate credentials:
- Certificate in Carrier Language, comprising 30 credits
- Diploma in Carrier Language, comprising 30 additional credits
- Education Certificate, comprising 33 additional credits.
Note: students must be admitted to the Education Program prior to registering in these courses.

The following DSTC courses will be offered in Burns Lake in 2010/2011:
Fall 2010
- FNST 322-3 Advanced Composition and Conversation, Level 2 (UNBC)
- FNST 324-3 Advanced Immersion (UNBC)
- FNST 421-3 First Nations Songs and Poetry (UNBC)
Spring 2011
- BIOL 103 Biology for Humanities and Social Science Students (CNC)
- ENGL 107 Literature and Composition: First Nations’ Literature (CNC)
- HIST 103 History of Canada to 1867 (CNC)
- MATH 190 Principles of Math for Teachers (CNC)
