Excavator Operator
This nine week program has been designed to respond to a growing need for operators in the building and mining construction sector. The Excavator Operator Certificate program combines hands-on equipment operation with training in an excavator simulator and adds comprehensive integrated skills and safety training components. This program is designed to teach the skills necessary to be an entry level excavator operator. Participants will also receive 10 industry certificates in addition to college certification upon successful completion.This 9 week program will offer the bridging skills necessary to be competent and safe entry-level excavator operators. Successful students will receive Excavator Operator, and nine additional industrial certifications. Two weeks of the program focuses on equipment service and maintenance.

Admission Requirements

One of the following
- Math 10 or Math 030 or equivalent, and English 10 or English 030 or equivalent; or
- Intermediate Adult Basic Education (ABE/CCP) certificate; or
- GED; or
- Mature student status

You must attend a program interview to determine your suitability for, and interest in, this field.

Because you’ll need to safely carry out course activities and work practicum duties in the field, this program requires a satisfactory level of physical fitness. A health statement will be required.
Note: You can enter the program without a valid Class 7 driver’s license. However, a valid Class 7 driver’s license will be required to complete the defensive driving part of the program, and to graduate from the entire program.
