Mining Industry Certificate (MINE) 

MINE

 

Canada’s mining sector is booming!

 

CNC’s 15-week Mining Industry Certificate will give you the skills necessary to gain employment in the mining sector. This program was created in response to mining industry needs. The emphasis of the program is on safety, developing knowledge of the mining industry, and developing practical skills through certification and hands-on training.

 

The program includes:

    • Classroom instruction
    • WorkSafe BC Certification
    • Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Petroleum Resources (MEMPR) certification
    • Skill certification
    • Safety training
    • Applied human relations skills
    • Employability skills
    • Field orientation and experiences, and
    • A BCIT course that transfers to the BCIT Mine Technology Program.

Admission Requirements

    1. Successful completion of Grade 10 or equivalent or mature student status.
    2. Completion of English and Math Skills assessment ($15.00).
    3. Submission of a brief statement summarizing interest in the sector, supported by past activities and future career goals.
    4. Participation in an information session and a scheduled interview.

     

    In addition applicants must be physically able to work in the rigorous mining industry environment.

    Note: Mining industry hiring standards require applicants to be 18 years of age and hold either a Grade 12 Diploma or a Dogwood Certificate.

CTC option. High school students may be eligible to take this program. See your school counsellor for more information.

Dual Credit Option: You can earn credits towards your grade 12 with the successful completion of this program.
