This course will qualify you for an exam, which is scheduled outside of the dates listed. Home study is required. A medical certificate of fitness is not required as of Mar 1, 2010. No interim certification will be issued, and students must provide photo ID. 3 year certification.

Other First Aid Training

CPR/AED Level C
Get the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for adults, children, and babies. The course covers topics such as choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission. Training includes the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Covering adult, infant and child first aid, the course includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines and is a prerequisite for individuals entering many medical fields, including nursing.16 HR

ATV Training
The All-Terrain Vehicle Rider Course is a nationally recognized program, developed by the Canada Safety Council to train the operators in the safe and efficient use of an ATV. The course includes both classroom and practical training with emphasis on operational skills. You must be 16 years or older and supply your own ATV in good working order.

Bear-Cougar Awareness
Spending time in the great outdoors? In this course you’ll learn about bear and cougar habitat, species identification and how to avoid encounters when hiking, camping or working in the bush, safe handling and use of defensive weapons such as bear spray, bangers and guns.

The half-day course provides an overview of regulations, hazard identification, procedures, and safety watch tasks important to the worksite for those working in confined spaces. Includes video and quiz.

H2S Alive
This one day course is intended for workers who may be exposed to hydrogen sulphide. The course covers the physical properties and health hazards of H2S, how to protect oneself and basic rescue techniques. Each student is required to operate a self-contained breathing apparatus and a detector tube device and to perform CPR and rescue lift and drag exercises. Three year certification upon successful completion.

WHMIS and TDG are just two of several courses that can now be accessed on-line. Contact your local campus to see whether this option could work for you.
Each campus is equipped with high-speed internet - labs are available for group training. We’ll help you get set up and ensure that your course runs smoothly. Ask for details!

Avalanche Training
Be prepared if planning to spend time in the back country. Course includes both classroom and in the field sessions. Students who don’t have safety equipment can rent from the instructor for $25 for the weekend.

Canadian Ski Patrol System and First Aid
Interested in improving your skiing or snowboarding? Learn the basic elements of First Aid and Ski Patrolling in this comprehensive 45-hour course. You’ll gain an understanding of the CSPS organization, first aid, the rescue and transport of injured individuals, and the procedures and programs necessary to patrol at the Murray Ridge Ski Area as well as other affiliated ski areas. The registration fee includes membership in the Canadian Ski Patrol System. No class Thanksgiving Monday.

Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention
All mine workers should receive this basic instruction regarding safe work practices and work-related musculoskeletal disorder risk factors.

Propane 400-01
Students completing this course will meet the requirements of the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code covering:
• Properties of propane
• Safe handling, storing, transporting and installation of propane cylinders
• Safe use and installation of fired construction heaters
• Safe use of hand held propane torches.
Students are required to obtain a minimum grade of 75% in order to receive certification.

Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid & CPR
This 5-day course is for individuals who recreate or live in isolated or wilderness settings and need to respond to emergencies when advanced care is not immediately available. The course covers material in Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas as well as strategies to provide extended care for up to 24 hours.

Snowmobile Safety (16 Yrs and up)
Take this one-day Canada Safety Council certificate course to ensure that you are up to date on regulations in your area for use of a snowmobile as well as learning about a safety-first approach to this popular recreation pastime. You must provide your own snowmobile. Certificate of Completion awarded with successful completion of this course.
