Aboriginal Cultural Competency

This introductory workshop will give you an overview of Carrier culture.  Increase your awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal people in order to build stronger relationships, nurture new ones and to share with one another our diverse backgrounds. After completion of this 5 hr. workshop you will:

· Have a broad awareness of the diversity of First Nations in Canada

· Understand the main impacts facing First Nations today

· Understand three basic social structures of Carrier people

· Explore questions of fiduciary rights and entitlements, socioeconomic situations and models of governance (i.e. Keyoh vs. electoral governance, demographics, etc.)

· Recognize differences

between traditional versus contemporary ways of being (ie. Health and wellness, business relationships, self-determination. 5 Hrs

Air Brakes Endorsement

You’ll receive  theory and practical training plus the Motor Vehicle Branch pre-trip inspection in this 20 hour course. To obtain an Air Brakes license endorsement, students must write the Motor Vehicle Branch Theory Exam. Students must supply their own Air Brakes manual.  20 Hrs

Foodsafe - Level 1

Planning an event with food? All food service establishments and non-profit organizations that sell food must have a minimum of one employee with Foodsafe certification on duty at all times. Certification issued upon successful completion. Students must provide their Personal Health Number at the time of registration.  Text is included in fee.   8 Hrs

Foodsafe - Level 2

Foodsafe - Level 2 is designed for food service owners, managers, kitchen managers, executive chefs and others who are responsible for food safety in foodservice establishments.  The course includes a short review of Foodsafe - Level 1 and includes modules on Managing for Food Safety and Writing a Food Safety Plan.

Supervision: The Positive Discipline Process

Workplace discipline is required for all sorts of day to day problems including absenteeism, bad attitudes and poor performance.  Traditional punitive approaches are usually disappointing with their results.  Learn strategies to : 

· Have employees take personal responsibility for their actions

· Avoid confrontation, grievances and anger provoking reactions

· Salvage potentially good employees who have gone off track.

Learn to recognize good performance, solve problems without discipline and make significant gains in your workplace relationships.  6 Hrs                               Fee: Fraser Lake     $165

Recruiting good employees is the most important aspect of effective organization development. You’ll examine each step of the process, examine selection tools for strengths and weaknesses and learn about the increased power of effective combinations. You’ll learn about the behavioral questioning process via active participation in role-plays and case studies. 12 Hrs
