 Nechako - Certified First Aid & Safety Training

 

 

To ensure a seat in any course offered by CNC, enroll a minimum of one week prior to the course start date.  

  

ATV Training Certificate

The All Terrain Vehicle Rider Course is a nationally recognized program, developed by the Canada Safety Council to train the operators in the safe and efficient use of an ATV.  The course includes both classroom and practical training with emphasis on operational skills.  You must be 16 years or older and supply your own ATV in good working order.  7 Hrs

Avalanche Training  - Level 1

Be prepared if planning to spend time in the back country.  Course includes both classroom and in the field sessions.

Bear - Cougar Aware

This course is a must for anyone spending time in the great outdoors.  You’ll learn about bear and cougar habitat, species identification and how to avoid bear and cougar encounters when hiking, camping or working in the bush.  Students will also learn about the safe handling and use of defensive weapons such as bear spray, bangers and guns.

Confined Space

The half-day course provides an overview of regulations, hazard identification, procedures and safety watch tasks important to the worksite for those working in confined spaces.  Includes video and quiz.  4 Hrs

CPR/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training - Recertification

This CPR Recertification course includes CPR Level C & AED

training and may be upgraded to CPR Level HCP (Health Care Provider). Course appropriate for :  police, firefighters, first responders, workplace first aid teams, lifeguards, physicians, paramedics and health care providers.  4 Hrs

Emergency Childcare First Aid with CPR

This is an overview of First Aid and CPR techniques, taught in an interactive environment.  This course is ideal for individuals who care for infants or children and for parents or any family members who care for a baby or child.  3-year Red Cross Certification.  8 Hrs

H2S Alive

Learn how to safely work around sour gas wells.  This is a PITS certified course which combines theory, demonstration and practice using H2S detectors, Actar heads and rescue breathing apparatus.  On passing the exam, the certificate is good for three years. 7 Hrs

Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention

All mine workers should receive this basic instruction regarding safe work practices and work-related musculoskeletal disorder risk factors.  14 Hrs

Propane 100 Certification

Propane Pump Attendents must hold a valid Propane Certificate.  This course covers filling cylinder and motor fuel tanks.  Ticket is valid for 3 years

Propane 400-01

Students completing this course will meet the requirements of the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code with respect to the following areas:

· Properties of propane

· Safe handling, storing, transporting and installation of propane cylinders

· Safe use and installation of direct and indirect fired construction heaters

· Safe use of hand held propane torches.

Students are required to obtain a minimum grade of 75% in order to receive certification.  4 Hrs

Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid & CPR

This 5-day course is for individuals who recreate or live in isolated or wilderness settings and need to respond to emergencies when advanced care is not immediately available.  The course covers material in Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas as well as strategies to provide extended care for up to 24 hours.  40 Hrs

Snowmobile Safety (16 Yrs and up)

Take this one-day Canada Safety Council certificate course to ensure that you are up to date on regulations in your area for use of a snowmobile as well as learning about a safety-first approach to this popular recreation pastime.  You must provide your own snowmobile.  Certificate of Completion awarded with successful completion of this course.

Occupational First Aid Training

 

Occupational First Aid Level 1

Be prepared for first aid emergencies!  OFA Level 1 covers:

· Initial emergency care

· Airway management

· Choking/breathing

· Emergency management of chest injuries

· Shock and bleeding

· Cardiac arrest

· Accident scene management.

3 year certification recognized by WorkSafe BC. Photo ID is required.

OFA - Transportation Endorsement

Is your worksite more than 20 minutes from the nearest medical aid?  OFA Level 1 ticket holders may also require  the Transportation Endorsement certification.  Students must hold a valid WorkSafe BC OFA 1 ticket to register for this course.  Photo ID is required.  3 year certification.

Occupational First Aid Level 3

Level 3 is the most advanced first aid training available and most sought after by industry.  This course will qualify you for an exam, which is scheduled outside of the dates listed.  Home study is required.  A medical certificate of fitness is not required as of Mar 1, 2010.  No interim certification will be issued, and students must provide photo ID.  3 year certification.

Standard First Aid For Mines

This three day certification course has been developed from the St. John Ambulance First on the Scene program to meet first aid requirements for the Canada Labour Code Standard First Aid.
