This course is designed to introduce firefighters to a live fire in a structure. The firefighter will learn the basics of fire behavior in theory and practical experience in a controlled burn structure and will go through the basics of performing a search in a smoke and heat environment.7 Hrs

FS171:Live Fire Level 1
A fire fighter completing Level 1 will have the appropriate mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills and techniques to function effectively and safely as an integral member of a fire fighting team when engaged in fire suppression activities. This course is in conformance with NFPA 1001.14 Hrs

FS172: Live Fire Level 2
Level 2 develops practical skills and techniques to extinguish and control the following: exterior combustible liquids fire of at least 100 sq. ft. using a foam fire stream, a fire in an elevated location, a fire involving a flammable gas cylinder, a fire in a below-grade location. Prerequisite: Live Fire 1.14 Hrs

Live Fire 3
This level is designed to enhance the skills, knowledge and safety of the fire fighter. The course introduces the fire fighter to working in the role of an incident commander. The incident Commander will size up emergency scenes and formulate strategic coals and tactical objectives. Participants will apply the Incident Command System (ICS) using passport accountability to live fire scenarios. Prerequisites: Senior Fire fighter with Live Fire Level 2.14 Hrs

First Nations Volunteer Fire Department Training
The Northern Interior Fire Training Centre in Fort St. James is now providing on-site training for First Nations Volunteer Fire Departments. This 12 hour training course will include: safety orientation, turnout gear, SCBA, apparatus, equipment, laying hose, hydrants and ladders.
