Pipe Trades - Foundation Level
Location: Fort St. James Dates: February 6 - August 3, 2012 26 Weeks Full Time
Explore the Pipe Trades in this Foundation Level Program This 26-week foundation level program is focused on the successful student seeking employment as an indentured apprentice in one of the four pipe trades: pipefitter/steamfitter, sprinkler installer, gasfitter, or plumber. Participants will be introduced to all four trades, including hands-on experience and on completion will be able to make an informed choice about which pipe trade apprenticeship they would like to pursue. Plumber: Install, maintain and repair domestic hot and cold water, drainage systems, and water based heating systems. Steamfitter/Pipefitter: Maintain and repair piping systems that convey low and high pressure steam, hot water, air, fuel gases. Gasfitter: Install, test, maintain and repair propane and/or natural gas lines, appliances and equipment in residential and commercial premises. Sprinkler Fitter: Install, alter and repair automatic, deluge or open sprinklers, foam, fog and carbon dioxide systems, wet or dry standpipes, hose pipe systems, fire hydrant pumps and hydrant systems. Admission Requirements: The admission requirements mentioned below are the minimum requirements. 1. Grade 10 with English 10 or Eng 030 or equivalent and Principles of Math 10 or Math 030 or equivalent or Applications of Math 10 with a “C” or higher in both. Students who do not meet the above requirement, and think they may be admissible as a mature student should consult a CNC advisor. Note 1: High school graduation with English 12, Math 11 and Physics 11 (where applicable) is recommended and required by some employers in order to be indentured as an apprentice.
