Welding Levels B and A

Program Length: Full Time, 16 Weeks

Start: Jan 7, 2013

Tuition: $1,353

Location: Fort St. James Campus

With advancing technology, welding equipment and techniques are constantly changing. It is imperative for welders to continually update their skills. CNC Fort St. James offers welding training in levels C and B. Graduates of Welding B will be qualified for a variety of jobs in the construction and metal working industries. Possible job titles include:

  • Production welder
  • Maintenance welder
  • Welder fabricator
  • Welder fitter
  • Construction welder
  • Pipe welder (in pulp mills, gas plants, and refineries)

Program Topics:

  • P-7 Shielded Metal Arc Welding II (S.M.A.W. II)
  • P-8 Gas Metal Arc Welding II (G.M.A.W. II)
  • P-9 Flux Core Arc Welding II (F.C.A.W. II)
  • P-10 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding I (G.T.A.W. I)
  • RK-4 Inspection Procedures
  • RK-5 Welding Standard and Quality Control
  • RK-6 Blueprint Reading II
  • RK-7 Metallurgy II

 Admission requirements:

Applicants should contact the CNC Fort St. James campus for assessment, space availability, and testing requirements.

1. To enter level B, you must have completed the registered C level.

2. Challenges to levels C, B, and A are subject to ITA approval.

The CNC Nechako Fort St. James Campus Welding site is a CWB Welder Test Centre. Testing scheduled for Sept 10.

 

Welding Level C

Program Length: Full Time, 30 Weeks

Dates: Sept 10, 2012 - May 3, 2013

Tuition: $4,682 Texts approx. $300

Location: Fort St. James Campus

Dual Credit Option!

As a Welding C graduate, you will qualify for a variety of jobs in the construction and metal working industries. You will also be prepared to successfully complete employers’ skill assessments. Possible job titles include Production Welder, Maintenance Welder and more.

 

Program Topics: 

Courses include the following (not a complete list):

  • P-1 Introduction and Program Orientation
  • P-3 Gas and Braze Welding
  • P-5 Air Carbon Arc Welding
  • RK-1 Material Handling and Rigging
  • RK-3 Introduction to Metallurgy I

Admission requirements:

  • English 10, English 030 or equivalent and
  • Essentials of Math 10 (“C” grade or higher) or cred-it in Applications of Math 10 or Principles of Math 10 or Math 041 or equivalent.

Students who do not meet the above requirements may wish to consult with a CNC advisor to determine their eligibility on the basis of mature student status.
