Counselling and Advising Services

Making decisions that will change the rest of your life can be a little frightening. Educational decisions can fall into that category. That’s why the College of New Caledonia offers direction in these and other areas.

The needs of many students reaches far beyond the programs they choose and the courses they take. Enrolling in a college usually means a variety of life-style changes and adjustments. The counselling staff at CNC is trained and experienced to assist you with these adjustments. Let them help you plan the details of not only the courses you should take, but how these courses can best be taken to coordinate with other commitments in your life.

The Counselling and Academic Advising Department provides a comprehensive counselling and advising service to assist students and prospective students in successfully achieving their objectives. Our Professional Counsellor and Academic Advisor can provide assistance in dealing with academic, career, and personal concerns. Individuals are encouraged to consult with a Counsellor/Advisor when:

• entering College;

• establishing career and life goals;

• transferring to another post-secondary institution;

• entering the job market;

• requiring assistance with appeals

• withdrawing from courses/programs.

Personal Counselling is available for students encountering personal problems/crises or barriers to personal or academic success.
Academic Advising is available to assist students in planning educational programs, in obtaining information on career options and skill requirements, and in job search preparation and techniques.

All services are free and confidential.
