Employer Testimonials -----------------------------------------
The program has provided Alpine Country Rentals Ltd. with well qualified employees that helped increase our level of sales, range of products and quality of customer service. We would certainly consider hiring more NORE students in the future as we realize the importance of having staff with industry-recognized skill sets.
Alpine Country Rentals Ltd.
We have employed a number of NORE graduates over the years to work as Natural History Interpreters and Visitor Information Counsellors. We have been impressed with their enthusiasm, skill level, and knowledge. The NORE training gives students the background and specific skills needed to be successful in a tourism career. Two of our NORE employees have been promoted into supervisory and management positions and we would be happy to hire more NORE graduates in the future.
Adventure Management Ltd.
The Valemount Area Recreation Development Association currently employs three former NORE program students. We have found the course to produce excellent employees that are keen to get a start in the tourism industry. These students have a jump on the rest of the applicants as they already come out with some technical but necessary courses such as a high level of First Aid, excellent communication skills, a great understanding of Risk Management and an overall understanding of the tourism industry.

Finding employees for accommodation, food and beverage is always tough. I currently have a NORE student overseeing the operations of my motel front desk. Once she leaves I will have no qualified staff to run the operation. We usually employ between four and six college students each year, which is a significant portion of the staff at both businesses.

Our operation needs employees with the specific training that the NORE program teaches. We have hired raft guides, bus drivers and front desk staff from the program. It varies from year to year, but we have hired about a half dozen or so. The NORE program is a valuable course in our area because it prepares the students for local job opportunities and provides qualified personnel and locally trained tourism workers.
Mount Robson Whitewater Rafting Co.
We hire almost exclusivley NORE students. They have the enthusiasm and skills needed to help the business succeed. Currently my entire staff consists of students or former students and graduates. The program brings people in that are genuinely interested in tourism which is perfect for employers like me. They're here, they're in the field, they have the knowledge and they are learning about the industry.
