A

Aboriginal liason (Burns Lake) Helps meet the cultural needs of Aboriginal students.

Aboriginal Resource Centre (ARC) (Prince George) The ARC welcomes Aboriginal students in a unique gathering place. There are spaces for quiet study, computer access, and activities. Students will have the support of the ARC manager, an access instructor, a cultural advisor and an academic advisor. Services include tutoring, advice on financial support, liaison with sponsoring agencies and CNC faculty, academic and career planning, and advice on support services at CNC and in Prince George. In addition, the ARC supports the activities of the CNC Dream Hunters Aboriginal Student Club. The ARC is a supportive community that provides the necessary services for an easier transition into college and continued success during your academic journey.

Administration  Information on governance and committees, college policies, and CNC's strategic plan.

 

Admissions & Registration Submit applications, register for classes, get a student ID card, pay your fees, and get transcripts.  The staff can also arrange entrance testing, sign you up for convocation, and help you apply for a certificate or diploma.

Bookstore (Prince George, small store also at Burns Lake campus) At the College Store, you can buy textbooks, stationery, and supplies for all your courses. Three times a year, the store holds used-book buy-backs. Also featured: gifts, snacks, and College-crested sportswear and mementos. They also offer special discount prices on computer software and supplies.

Centre for Student Success (Prince George) Helpful seminars on study techniques, test-taking strategies, time management, and more. Other services: tutoring, short courses in basic English or math, library of textbooks, videos, and handouts.  Computers and a quiet study area are also available. All services are free to CNC students.

Cinema CNC (Prince George) Movies at special student prices, shown right on campus!  Watch for theme movie nights and film festivals.

Contract Training (Prince George, Mackenzie, and Quesnel) Customized training for you or your organization. Can often be delivered on site. Examples: safety training, heavy equipment operation, first aid training.

Counselling and Advising (Prince George) Professional counsellors and academic advisors can help with educational, career, and personal concerns. CNC's Quesnel and Lakes District campuses also offer part-time counselling and advising services.

Daycare (Prince George) On-site daycare provides full-time care for 3-5 year-olds in the Prince George community. It's also a teaching centre for our Early Childhood Education students. Open from September until the end of April.

Deli (Prince George) The Deli, located in the Brink Building , provides hot and cold snacks and light meals.

Dental Clinic (Prince George) Preventive dental services are available for the public.

 

Disability Resource Centre (Prince George) Disability Support Sevices are available to prospective and registered students with disabilities.  Documentation of disability is required. Please contact Disability Support Services at least one semester before your program starts.

Health and Safety The College is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for employees and students. Therefore, all health and safety regulations are enforced, unsafe conditions are promptly corrected, and safety education is provided on a continuous basis.  The College's Occupational Health and Safety Committee, comprised of employee and management representatives, meets monthly.

 Information Technology Services (Prince George) The College has many student computer labs containing microcomputers, laser printers, and overhead projectors. All labs are fully networked.  Most labs run Windows, but there are also Macs available.  There's also a drop-in lab set up for users to print from laptops.  Find a lab (Prince George campus) using the College Room Finder and get a listing of software available in the labs using the CNC Lab Software Application .

 

Institute for Learning and Teaching - The Institute is a centre that supports and promotes communication, collaboration and innovation among employees in a comfortable and user friendly environment. The Institute for Learning and Teaching also develops CNC's constantly growing list of online courses that are available to employees and students.

 

International Education Study in a multicultural English-speaking atmosphere!  CNC's International Education department will help make your stay fun, educational, and safe.  Services include academic advising and counselling; homestay placement; help with study permit and visa extensions; orientation sessions; and special events.

Kodiaks Restaurant (Prince George) Here's where Culinary Arts students create a gourmet fine dining experience. The restaurant is open several times each academic year for lunch and dinner.

Library The library's goal is to help you succeed in your studies. As well as the large library in Prince George, there are  libraries at our campuses in Burns Lake, Mackenzie, Quesnel, Valemount, and Vanderhoof. Visit your nearest CNC library to access collections, online resources, e-mail, and the Web.

Maps

 

Media Services (Prince George) Media Services provides a wide range of services, including equipment and media loans, and video and audio production. Media Services can duplicate video or audiotapes, convert videos to and from formats, help withCD/DVD burns, and laminate posters. As well, there's a desktop-publishing centre where you can make transparencies, do lettering, and use light tables, scanners, and various colour and black-and-white printers.

Recreation (Prince George) Work out in our weight room, play squash, or take classes in Pilates, Tai Chi, or dance. Or, play intramural basketball, floor hockey, or soccer.

 

Residence (Prince George) The residence has 92 private rooms -- most share a bathroom with one other room. There are also four units accessible to students with disabilities. Common areas feature two comfortable lounges, a main floor kitchen, laundry facilities, and parklike grounds with a patio, picnic tables, and barbeque.
