Mary Sjostrom

Mary Sjostrom spent 15 years on City Council in Quesnel, including six years as Mayor and nine as Councillor. During this time Mary spent eight years on the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Board which represents all local governments in British Columbia. She was UBCM President 2012/2013. Mary also served on the Boards of BC Transit, Cariboo Regional District and is a Past President and Life Member of the North Central Local Government Association (NCLGA). Prior to her time in local government, Mary was a successful small business owner in Quesnel and volunteered with the Quesnel Rotary Club, Hospice Society, and Palliative Care Association. She currently serves with the Ministers Council on Accessibility and Inclusion. In 2014, Mary received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award for her commitment to local government and her community.
