Area: Russia Far East: Natural Resource Based Economic Development in the Nanaiski District RU
Project Name: Institutional Capacity Building for Sustainable Regional Economic Development in Khabarovsk Krai RU
Between 1999 and 2008 the College of New Caledonia, in partnership with the McGregor Model Forest Association, successfully delivered programming in the Russia Far East on two CIDA funded projects. The outcomes of this 10 year initiative include:
Significant increase in the capacity of institutions to deliver professional training programs that support sustainable regional economic development across the state;
Collaborated on a needs assessment and capacity development training on wood frame construction, business development training, and local governance and economic development training;
Facilitated gender sensitive training for both Canadian and local project partners, including opportunities for youth and aboriginal peoples; and Significantly enhanced local employment and income generation for women and men in the area, including youth and aboriginal peoples

Area: Romania
Project Name: Partnerships for Tomorrow Program II
In 2004, the College of New Caledonia delivered short term programming in Romania as part of the Partnerships for Tomorrow Program, II, facilitated by the AUCC and the World Bank. The focus of this project was the development of sustainability of Regional Adult Training Centres and community partners to support social and economic development. The College of New Caledonia provided models on community-based, employment-oriented adult education as well as adapted these models to meet the national and regional needs of the local community to mobilize rapid deployment of industry, business and community-focused training for employment growth.
In addition, Romanian partners expressed interest in Aboriginal education and explored how Canadian experiences may relate of the Roma social and economic structures.
