The International Education Centre is committed to developing leaders, enriching student life, promoting learner success and extending the involvement of student, staff and faculty in our global community.
To prepare students to work in a global community, it is our hope that faculty participate in at least one international experience during their time at the College. Self awareness, cross cultural communication skills, and a broad world perspective assist in successful navigation through our changing world.

Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) is a not-for-profit organization that helps to build proud independent communities. Over 2,800 distinguished Volunteer Advisors (VAs) on the CESO roster share their professional experience by serving as mentors, advisors and trainers to our clients and partners at home and abroad. VAs, all seasoned experts in their respective fields, are posted in communities to promote development, build economic capacity and support sustainable businesses.

The College of New Caledonia offers students and community members many opportunities to see the world from a different perspective.
See the Great Wall of China, learn Tai Chi, and enjoy an authentic tea culture experience at a historic tea house in Hangzhou;
Or experience the wonder of the Vatican, walk through vineyards, and olive groves and learn some basic Italian language skills that you'll use at the market each morning;

Field Schools and Exchanges
Field Schools:
Field Schools allow students the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world to study in a new environment and context with their instructor. In addition to earning credits towards a course of study, students benefit from gaining a wider understanding of the world, communicating cross-culturally and creating memories that will last a life time.

Forestry 250: Every other year, the College of New Caledonia and our partner school in China offer Natural Resource and Biology students the opportunity to experience the range of natural forested ecosystems in the Hangzhou/Lin'an area. Students will visit live on campus at Zhejiang Forestry University, visit bamboo forests, learn how forested lands are managed in China, and visit manufacturing facilties where wood is processed to furniture or flooring. This field school also covers some basic Mandarin language and cultural activities, rounding out a two to three week program. This study takes place on alternate years, providing there is a minimum number of interested students.
Exchange opportunties:
Exchange agreements are in place with our partner schools in Italy and China, allowing individual students to learn for a longer period of time (one semester or more). An exchange can allow a student to add an international component to their program, language and cultural skills, or study beyond a certificate or diploma in their field of study.
- Diploma in Fine Arts at Lorenzo de'Medici, Florence, Italy ... If you are a graduate of CNC's Certificate in FIne Arts, why not add credits to your portfolio and earn a diploma in Italy! You will study Italain Language, painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, etching and art history at Lorenzo de'Medici's Florence campus. What better way to learn about art history than to study where history was made!
- One Semester Exchange at Zhejiang Forestry University ... College of New Caledonia students are invited to participate in a one semester exchange with our partner university, Zhejiang Forestry University (ZFU). Located in Lin'an, you will learn Mandarin and pursue courses related to your program of study, or courses of interest from a comprehensive calendar of course offerings. You will live on campus with more than 15,000 students, attend classes, and make friends. Zhejiang Forestry University features modern buildings and faciltiies in a setting of great natural beauty. Lin'an is located west of Hangzhou, and three hours south of Shanghai.
Study Tours & Applying
Whether you are seeking to earn credits in a unique setting, gain international understanding, or see the world through a new lens, the College of New Caledonia offers many different opportunities for students and community members to participate in an international education abroad experience.
Each spring, the College of New Caledonia offers programs ranging in length from 10 days to 30 days, including the following destinations: China, Italy, South Korea, Vietnam, and coming soon, Latin America.
Experience China
Imagine a world where the language is a unique rhythm of tones, and the history and culture span several thousands of years....this is China! What is the experience? Living on campus at Zhejiang Forestry University, located in Lin'an City, a suburb of the beautiful garden city of Hangzhou, participants will experience first hand the depth and richness of the Chinese culture. The study experience will begin in Beijing with three days of sight seeing, including the Great Wall and the Summer Palace. Participants will then spend 12 days at ZFU to study language, culture and business in China, prior to visiting the bright lights of Shanghai.
When: Next departure, May 2011 Fees: TBA Program: Beginning in Beijing, your senses will be awakened by the historic sights, people, and culinary experiences that await your arrival. Day trips will include seeing the Great Wall of China, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City and Olympic venues. This experience will lay the ground work for the language and cultural study to take place at Zhejiang Forestry University. A comprehensive university located south of Shanghai, ZFU offers you the opportunity to learn "survival Mandarin", explore cultural activities such as tea culture, tai chi, paper cutting and Chinese art and calligraphy. With a focus on doing business in China, you will explore the economy, history of imports and exports, with opportunities to meet entrepreneurs and visit local businesses. While in Shanghai, you will explore Nanjing Road, the Asian Pearl, and the famous Bund, along the Huangpu River, and tour the Dream House Canada show home in Pudong. Participants will meet twice prior to departure for orientation sessions and planning purposes.

Dreams are reality at Lorenzo de'Medici (LdM)
Join the College of New Caledonia each June and experience living in an apartment for one month and becoming a part of the city of Florence.... Experiencing a morning walk to the market.... Awakening all your senses ... the smell of fresh bread, a taste or rich espresso, a slice of world famous cheese. Passionate instructors lead classes focused on language, art history, culture and culinary arts. Enjoy field trips to local land marks, museums and galleries, and spend the weekend in Rome or Tuscania.

How to apply:
Application forms are also available at the international department, and will be processed on a first come, first deposit paid basis. This opportunity is open to all faculty, students and staff of the College of New Caledonia, as well as community members interested in language/culture study.
Experience Korea
With a focus on health sciences, Daegu Health College offers students an excellent view of health services training, and programs from the Korean context. Participants will live on campus orwith a homestay, and also learn about the Korean culture while participating in activities including language studies, and touring local historical sights.

Health, Safety & Resources
The decision to study abroad with the College of New Caledonia sets into place a series of activities that require some time prior to your departure. The International Education Department will provide pre-departure orientations and information sessions. Make sure that you attend these sessions, and that you are informed about where you are going. Use the resources listed on these pages; you may also want to meet international students studying at CNC. They will likely enjoy the opportunity to talk about their home country.
The steps you take to be informed and to organize important details prior to your departure will help you to have a successful study abroad.
