The College Library is an excellent information source for people working in the natural resources sector. The Library is open to the public. Borrower cards are free. Professional librarians are available to assist students and members of the community. If you are researching a new topic, we can offer tips on finding relevant sources quickly! Some of our key sources are listed on this page.

Topic search - Go to CNC Library Journals page

The best way to find a lot of information on a topic is to search a journal index or database. Many of the Library's indexes include full-text articles, which can be retrieved at any campus station or from home with a CNC account.  Try these indexes, for natural resources related searches:

(1) Academic Search

(2) Business bundle: with Business Source Premier

(3) Canadian Business and Current Affairs

(4) Canadian Newsstand, for current and archival newspaper articles

(5) National Research Council journals

(6) CCINFOweb database, for chemical information

(7) Agricola provides indexes, abstracts, and some full text links, for agriculture and forest-related articles and reports

Title search - Go to CNC Library Journals page and click on Journal lists: Online A-Z Title/Subject

If you are looking for a specific journal, go to the Journal Title/Subject lists posted on the Library webpage. In addition to some terrific archives (going back to the 1950's), we have current subscriptions to many titles. The online list gives you dates of coverage for each title.

Sample of specific lists of journals by subject:  Agriculture - Fisheries - Forestry - total Subject list, see Science sections

Sample titles:

Canadian journal of forest research: Complete list of print and online holdings is here - check carefully, note that current issues are available from Ebsco but not the very latest ones; we can get those for you on interlibrary loan.

Forestry chronicle: Library has all issues in print and online - access is for CNC on-campus users only (top bar says "Subscriber access" and is enabled by Canadian Institute of Forestry)

Go to CNC Library Statistics page

Our Statistics page is a good starting point if you are looking for local, provincial or federal statistics related to population, the economy and natural resource based industries.
