The College Library is an excellent information source for people working in the natural resources sector. The Library is open to the public. Borrower cards are free. Professional librarians are available to assist students and members of the community. If you are researching a new topic, we can offer tips on finding relevant sources quickly! Some of our key sources are listed on this page.

Go to CNC Library Catalogue

There is a large collection of natural resource-related print and media items at the main campus library in Prince George. Search the online catalogue by topic - e.g. "ecological forestry" "aquaculture" "wind power"  - or browse the shelves in these call number areas.

Topic search - Go to CNC Library Journals page

The best way to find a lot of information on a topic is to search a journal index or database. You can use either the Advanced Search on the Main Library Homepage or you can search one of our specific databases. While the Advanced Search allows you to search both the databases and the library concurrently the individual databases may be more useful for searching for forestry related materials. Many of the Library's databases include full-text articles, which can be retrieved at any campus station or from home with a CNC account. Try these indexes, for natural resources related searches:

(1) Academic Search Complete

(2) Business bundle: with Business Source Complete

(4) Canadian Newsstream, for current and archival newspaper articles

(5) National Research Council journals

(6) CCINFOweb database, for chemical information

(7) Agricola provides indexes, abstracts, and some full text links, for agriculture and forest-related articles and reports

Title search - Go to The CNC Library Homepage and click on Journals.

If you are looking for a specific journal, go to the Journals posted on the Library Homepage. In addition to some terrific archives (going back to the 1950's), we have current subscriptions to many titles. The online list gives you dates of coverage for each title.

Sample titles:

Canadian journal of forest research: Complete list of print and online holdings is here - check carefully, note that current issues are available from Ebsco but not the very latest ones; we can get those for you on interlibrary loan.

Forestry chronicle from Canadian Institute of Forestry. Library has issues in print from July 1925-Dec. 2016. Issues are also online at

Go to CNC Library Statistics page

Our Statistics page is a good starting point if you are looking for local, provincial or federal statistics related to population, the economy and natural resource based industries.
