A good starting point for Canadian statistics.  Search all categories at once, or search/browse within a category.  Includes: The Daily (highlights of newly released data), Canadian Statistics (over 250 tables of statistics about Canada's people, economy, environment, government), CANSIM (selected socio-economic data), Trade Exports, Trade Imports and Census.  Statistics on all cities, towns, villages, and native settlements are available for 1996 (Statistical Profiles of Canadian Communities), 2001 (Community Profiles and Aboriginal Population Profiles), 2006 (Community Profiles and Aboriginal Population Profiles), and 2011 (Community Profiles and more).  Statistics Canada has also produced an online version of the Canada Yearbook using 2001 data (Canada e-Book) and a handy tutorial on how to create surveys, collect data and analyze results (Statistics: Power from Data!)

Statistics Canada's E-Stat Online (free access as of Feb. 1, 2012): Designed for colleges/schools, this Learning Resources section of StatCan's website has current Census and CANSIM (Canadian Socio-Economic Information Management System) data, along with lesson plans and tutorials for creating charts, graphs, maps. A good starting point for BC statistics. Search for regional census data, community profiles, and statistical interpretations from the INFOLINE weekly journal. Go to the Quick Facts section for BC-wide statistics.

Canada Post

Householder Counts and Maps, by Province, City, Postal Code 
Canada Post data on the number of houses, apartments, farms, businesses in a particular province, city or postal code. Can be used to determine volume needed for mail-outs and other marketing purposes. Includes links to maps of the area; click here for a complete set of maps as a .pdf document.
Sample search for Prince George: from the menu on the right, choose Householder Counts and Maps - Current data - Consumer's choice (or Total points of call) - British Columbia "Urban Counts" - Prince George. The table gives you a breakdown of houses, apartments, farms and businesses in the area. To get maps click on FSA Map (map of area) or LCW map (letter carrier walk routes).

Community Information Database: socio-economic and demographic data and information for communities across Canada, developed specifically to help rural communities with community development and planning. Interactive maps, tables, charts. Data from 1996 and 2001 Census (no 2006 data yet, July/08).
