How do I add a file or image to the website?

Uploading Files to the CMS

The College has a repository for uploading files called the Digital Assets Manager.

To upload a file to the CMS, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the CMS.
  2. Hover your mouse pointer over the System tab at the top of the screen.

  3. Choose Digital Assets Manager from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click on the Add Asset button.
  5. On this page, you will be required to fill out several fields. To begin with, give the file a Name. After your file is uploaded, it will be listed in the manager under this name.

  6. If your file is an image, it also needs to be given an Alt Tag (which is just a short description).
  7. Click Browse next to the Upload field.
  8. Locate the file you want to upload on your computer and click Open.
  9. Uncheck the box that says Optimize image.
  10. Click Save.

Adding a file to a web page

To insert a digital asset, begin by editing the page you want to insert the file into.

  1. On the editing screen, click on the area you want your file to appear.
  2. Click the button that says Insert Digital Asset. The button looks like a file with an arrow pointing downward on it:
  3. A dialog window will open. Expand the category Digital Assets by clicking on the plus sign. This will give you an alphabetical list of digital assets on the server.
  4. Choose your file from the list.
  5. Click Insert.

Images will appear visually, and other file types will appear as links.

Faster method for single files

If you’re only adding one file at a time, there’s a shorter process you can use that uploads the file and adds it to the page at the same time.

  1. Edit the page you want to insert the file into.
  2. Click on the area you want your file to appear.
  3. Click the Insert Digital Asset button.
  4. Switch to the Add tab.
