How do I arrange to write a test at the CSS?
First, you will need to get permission from your instructor to write a test in the Centre for Student Success. If your instructor agrees, come to the CSS and schedule your test well in advance of the day you wish to write your test. You will need to provide your name, your class and section number and your instructor's name.
Please come to the Centre for Student Success about 10 minutes before your scheduled test time. If there are instructions to be reviewed prior your test, the staff may request that you arrive earlier than 10 minutes prior to your scheduled test time. The staff will show you where you can sit to write your test and review the guidelines with you regarding electronic devices, time limits, etc.
Can I use an electronic device during my test?
You are not allowed the use of any electronic devices during testing unless specified by your instructor (eg. use of a calculator). Prohibited electronic devices include, but are not limited to, IPODs, IPAD, cell phones, blue tooth devices, digital cameras/camcorders, any device capable of recording or creating a digital image, etc.
How can I book an appointment?
You may book an appointment for tutoring in person in the Centre for Student. An appointment card stating the date, time and tutor for the appointment will be given.
How long are appointments with a tutor?
Appointments are generally scheduled for 30 minutes.
Where can I get a tutor or extra help?
Tutoring for Math, English, writing skills and study skills is available in the Centre for Student Success. Students who require extra help or tutoring in other subject areas are encouraged to speak with their instructors for extra assistance.
I need to take Math 155 / English 155. Where can I get more information?
You can get additional information about these courses from CSS or Counselling and Advising.
Is there anywhere else I can get help with my University Transfer Math besides the Centre for Student Success?
Students needing extra help in University Transfer Math courses may also go to the Math Tutorial Centre located near the cafeteria in room 1-201. The schedule for available Math tutors is posted outside the Math Tutorial Centre door.
How do I find out what workshops are being offered in the Centre for Student Success?
Stop by the Centre for Student Success to ask or watch for workshop flyers around campus.
How do I sign up for workshops?
You can sign up for workshops by asking at the front counter in the Centre for Student Success. Please fill in your full name and student number when signing up for a workshop.

I wrote my diagnostic (eg. CCP) tests. Now what do I do?
Students who write the CCP test need to go to Admissions for further assistance. Students who write the Diagnostic test(s) need to make an appointment in the Centre for Student Success to go over their results with an instructor.
How much do the workshops and tutoring/extra help at the Centre for Student Success cost?
Workshops and appointments with tutors in the Centre for Student Success are free to currently registered CNC students.
Can I study in the Centre for Student Success?
Yes, students may take part in quiet study in the Centre for Student Success.
Can I use the computers in the Centre for Student Success?
Computers are avalible for you to use in CSS. We ask students to not monopolize a computer for a long period of time.
Does the Centre for Student Success have any handouts I can use for studying/writing/etc.?
The Centre for Student Success has a variety of handouts available. Please ask the staff.
I need to write a test from another university/college or agency. How do I arrange this and when and how do I pay the associated fee?
Test fees are to be paid at Admissions prior to writing your test in the Centre for Student Success. Please bring your receipt as proof of payment when you go to write your test.
I need some counselling/academic advice, can I receive this at the Centre for Student Success?
