If I am on a student loan or receiving Employment Insurance or being sponsored by a band can I apply for scholarships or bursaries?

Yes. Just add the income you receive through any of these sources to your budget sheet, and just make a regular application for a scholarship.  If you don’t apply you will not be considered. FAQ Top

I have a student loan from last year but I am not getting one for this year. How do I stop re-payment?

You need to complete a Schedule 2 (CSL) each semester for your Federal Canada Student loan and MAIL it to the National Student Loan Centre.

You need to complete a Certificate 2 (BCSL) for your Provincial student loan and MAIL it to the BC Student Loan Centre.

I had a student loan last year and I have another one again this year, how do I stop payments?

Your new Schedule 1 (CSL) loan document will notify the National Student Loan Centre you are in school and they should not take payments. You still need to complete a Certificate 2 (BCSL) because you will not get your provincial loan until you are halfway through your program year.

I have had all kinds of information from other students about how to apply for BCSAP (British Columbia Student Assistance Program), on who gets funded and who is turned down! I don’t know what to believe. How should I handle this concern?

Whether you are a Prince George student or Regional CNC student, just ask at the Financial Aid Office (located in Student Central room # 1-753, just down the hall from the Admissions Department). We have the information you need and will be happy to explain the process. You are more than welcome to arrange an appointment with our Financial Aid Officer who will review personal questions and concerns with you. FAQ Top

I don’t think BCSL (BC Student Loan) has given me enough funding. Is there anything I can do about the limited amount they have assessed me for?

Students may request an appeal of their assessment of financial need, if circumstances exist that set them apart from other students. Book an appointment with the Financial Aid Officer to discuss your circumstances.
