Dr. Heather Smith was born and raised in Prince George and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and a Master of Science in Community Health. She graduated with her medical degree in 2008 from the first Northern Medical Program (NMP) class at UNBC. She did two years of residency at various sites in Newfoundland before returning home in August, 2010. "There are some things in my scope of practice that aren’t in Sherry’s which allows us to have a broader range of service," said Smith. "We’re filling a gap in the health-care system. When students are living away from home, it’s hard to see the same doctor all the time. At CNC, you’re going to get good care all the time, which is better for your health."
