Oslob was by far the most amazing weekend! It was our third weekend getaway. We swam with whale sharks, went to an amazing waterfall and rode motorcycles! This picture is meant to describe the transition Korea has had in such a short time. It is mixing the old and the new, with part of the old kingdom mixed in with the new high-rise. It is meant to illustrate how a country can be rich in its history while being modern and trendy at the same time.

The Daegu Health College took us on a field trip to Busan which is Korea’s second biggest city. We went to the beach but more notably we got to go see a Buddhist Temple. It was a good long hike to get there but worth it. This is the view from coming down the steps; this is one of my favorite moments in South Korea as I got to see how passionate and rich the culture was.

Hyangwonjeong Pavilion in the Gyeongbok Palace. It is a pavilion that was constructed on an artificial island of a lake named Hyangwonji and a bridge named Chwihyanggyo connects it to the palace grounds. This specific area took my breath away; there was this big lake in the middle of a huge palace complex with an island right in the middle that had a long bridge connecting it to the land!

I love this photo because “God you’re stunning” is a funny quote my best friends and I say to each other and it has just stuck over the last few years. I felt taking a photo of it written in the sand would be wonderful for them and then the picture had a beaming light from the sunset pointing right at the quote and it just made the picture fantastic and unique.

This is a photo taken at the volunteer site where we worked. It was at the end of the workday while the mother was having her teeth fixed by the dentist I kept these little guys occupied. They were really interested in taking photos and see their image show up on the digital screen. So we all took turns taking photos while waiting for their mother to get her treatment completed. After playing with my camera for a bit Luz noticed all the photos we were taking and was able to snap a shot of all four of us.

While we stopped and had lunch there were six children playing outside waiting with their parents to have their dental treatment done. It was one of the nicer days in Villa Maria so we decided to eat outside in the sun. This little guy was intrigued by us and decided to play with us while we had lunch. After our lunch break was over I was able to snap a shot of this cute little guy before getting back to dental hygiene treatment for the parents.

While checking out the local markets we ran into these two lovely ladies sitting on the side of the street with their lamb. This photo is a panoramic shot of the volunteer site in Villa Maria. The building we worked in sits to the far left of the photo, which was turned into a medical center for the people in Villa Maria once our work was completed there. The two smaller rectangular buildings in this shot are the school buildings. The colorful buildings that sit on the rolling hills throughout the photo are the homes of the people that we helped while in Peru.
