Why Invest in CNC
The College of New Caledonia is an economic and educational engine of Northern BC. The College is the first choice for more than 5,000 students and 15,000 community and industry learners annually. The College of New Caledonia covers a geographic area of 117,000 square kilometers, which is 1/12th of the province, and is the lagest college region in BC.
CNC helps drive the economy of the Central Interior by training professionals and trades people that every community needs. Employment rates for graduates of the College's career and vocational programs average 89%. The first class learning infrastructure provided by the College also supports social development and overall community health within the region.
Increasingly, CNC is competing in a provincial and international post-secondary education marketplace. Through on-line learning and international education, CNC is reaching out to the world, expanding its services, and striving to ensure a strong and sustainable future in the heart of a prosperous region and province.
Your investment in CNC will help ensure that we can maintain our quality education and training environment and provide our students with the training they need to succeed in their chosen fields. Your support will be an investment in the future of our region.
Priority Projects
Student Awards Program
The generosity of hundreds of donors makes it possible for the College to award approximately 400 awards with a total value of $160,000 on an annual basis. Over 50% of CNC students rely on financial aid to help them achieve their learning and training goals. The need for your support is greater than ever as the number of students attending the College and seeking financial assistance increases.
The Student Awards Program is the key that many students need to achieve their educational and training goals. The cost of education continues to rise and much of the burden of that increase is placed onto the students. Scholarships and bursaries reward students for academic achievement and assist students in financial need.
You can provide support to students through the provision of an annual gift of $250 or more, or you can establish an endowed award ($10,000 and over) from which the income generated from the investments is provided as the award. Once established, an endowed award will benefit many students for years to come.
Equipment
CNC is a comprehensive community college that offers a diverse range of more than 40 programs leading to certificates, diplomas and degrees in career, vocational, university transfer, trades, apprenticeship and academic upgrading.
Many of the College’s programs, including Nursing, Dental Studies, Social Work, Welding, Criminology, Business, Arts and Sciences, Professional Cook, Medical Laboratory Technology Science Diploma, Early Childhood Education, Northern Outdoor Recreation and Eco-tourism, Electrical, Carpentry, and Millwright, attract students from across the province to study at CNC.
Some of these programs require specialized, and often costly, equipment for training purposes. Many programs also require on-going and costly training tools and resources to build on students’ learning experiences. State of the art equipment ensures that students are getting the most relevant education and training possible. Donations of cash for the purchase of equipment and other hands-on materials, or donations in-kind of equipment and materials would greatly benefit these programs.
Campus specific
CNC has seven campuses spread throughout the north central interior. Prince George is the largest campus, and community campuses are located in Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, Burns Lake, Mackenzie, Valemount and Quesnel. Each campus has unique programming, unique features and unique priorities. We encourage you to contact your local campus for information on how you can invest in your community campus.
Ways to give
Donations to the College can take many forms:
Online donations
Cash or cheque
Donations of cash or by cheque are always welcome. Cash should be dropped off to the fundraising office in person. Cheques should be made payable to the College of New Caledonia and can be dropped off in person to Communication Services or mailed to the address shown below. A completed donation form, or note indicating which project you would like your donation to support would assist us to ensure your donation is used for your intended purpose.
Pledges
Pledges can be made for multi-payment periods of between one year and five years. This method allows you to make a larger contribution to a project of interest, while allowing the College to plan ahead knowing that your commitment is in place to help fund the project.
In-kind contributions
In-kind donations of equipment, books or other materials are appreciated. These contributions ensure that our students receive a wide range of hands-on experience. Tax receipts can be provided for these generous and valuable gifts.
Planned giving
Gifts made through planning your estate are a thoughtful way to leave a legacy to the College and future students. You may with to consider leaving a bequest to the College in your will, or naming the College as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Other planned giving methods exist and we would be pleased to discuss these with you and your estate planning advisor.
