IR Role

Institutional Research (IR) & Reports is a department of the Student Services Division and carries out a support role in the College.

IR & Reports functions in three primary capacities:

Report Generation
- staff in IR & Reports perform report preparation and data analyses to support College-wide decision making, institutional evaluation, and strategic planning. Reports can be of an on-going or ad hoc basis, and involve the use of internal databases (primary data) or reporting from secondary data sources. Some of the finished products include enrolment, demographic, and student outcomes reports that are used by a variety of internal and external data users.

Government Reporting - the department assists the College in fulfilling institutional data requirements to external government agencies such as the Ministry of Advanced Education and Statistics Canada.  These data are used for a variety of accountability reports such as the FTE Enrolment Report, performance measures, and service plans.

Research
- the department serves as a repository for educationally related reports, demographic and employment data, and environmental scan materials for use in such internal activities as new program development and institutional planning. Staff in IR & Reports also assist in College wide survey projects, and serve as a resource for internal groups conducting research projects.
