Ann McQuaid was passionate about education. She taught and inspired students in the College and Career Preparation/Adult Basic Education program at the College for many years, and was also active in the community, serving on the School District Board, and the newly formed UNBC Senate.
Ann was only 46 when she passed away of cancer, a blow to family, friends, colleagues and students whose lives she had touched. Ann believed in the value of education and the importance of making post-secondary education available to all - and she was proud of students, particularly women, who returned as adults to finish high school completion courses and continue to post-secondary education. Ann felt that post-secondary education was the key to independence.
In her honour, both UNBC and CNC established scholarships in her name. For information about the Ann McQuaid Endowment Scholarship at CNC please refer to the Student Awards & Financial Assistance Catalogue at http://www.cnc.bc.ca/Exploring/Services/Financial_Aid/Scholarships_and_Bursaries.htm
