Catherine Giles

B.A., M.A., Ph.D.

Catherine came to the College from Ontario in July 1997 as the Chair of Arts and Social Services. In September 1999, she became Vice President (Academic), bringing her considerable leadership abilities to that position.

Catherine inspired everyone with her intense passion for students and learning. Her sudden death, of cancer in the Spring of 2001, led to an outpouring of emotion in the College and the community. Dr. Terry Weninger said "Catherine brought humour, courage and dignity to everything she did. Catherine had beliefs and high expectations which were reflected in every facet of her work at CNC. She took great pride in the success of our students as each successful student reflected the excellence of instruction and support that they had received from the entire college community. We have been privileged to have had Catherine as part of our lives. We will miss her. Our hearts reach out to her family and we send husband Robert and her children our deepest sympathy."
