Prince George Citizen, May 13, 2009
McKivett - Gary Adams passed away suddenly on May 9. He is predeceased by his father Harry. He is survived by his mom Brenda of Victoria, brothers Paul (Alynn), BJ (Margie), Rick (Pam), Candice (Angus), Mary Lou (Bill), Laurie (Harry), Marylyn (Russell), his special family Kelly and Bryce and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Gary's life will take place on May 14 at the Legion Auditorium, 1335 7th at 6:00 pm.
We would like to thank the family for providing us with a photo of Gary for our website and Remembrance Wall at the Prince George campus. And a special thank you to Kelly, for allowing us to post one of our favourite images of "Gary the book guy." This drawing hung behind Gary's desk for many years, attracting smiles from library staff and students alike.
Gary loved books, literature, and writing, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. He obtained a degree in English literature from UNBC and was working on his Master's when he passed away. He collected books on all subjects, and made many generous donations of books to the College library over the years.
On a personal note, I will remember Gary most for his great courage and strength of will, in the face of a long and difficult battle with diabetes. Deus tribuo vos pacis.
