CNC's Synchronized Sign On (SSO)
If you were trying to access a secure page and ended up here, or if you want to set up your CNC account you have to syncrhonize your password:
One Step
To Synchronize your CNC passwords, change your password in CNC Connect.
Then all of the systems listed below will have the same username and password.
If you do not have a CNC Connect account, are not sure what the password is, etc use the steps below.
Further Information
As of June 20th, 2007 CNC computer accounts are managed through CNC Connect. To use any of the systems below you need to synchronize your passwords once using CNC Connect. You may change your password at any time (as many times as you like, IT Services recommends changing your password every 90 days).
Systems:
- Log on to campus computers (Windows)
- Access Webmail (your CNC email account for life)
- Access CNC Connect (check your grades, history, etc)
- Use CNC's wireless network
- Access Blackboard
- Access your F drive from home
- Access CNC classifieds on eSwap
- Access the Employee Intranet (employees only) which includes the intranet, easyR, Day Planner, eSwap, Survey Builder, etc
- Access the Content Management System to update web pages (employees only)
- NOT included: Colleague and Informer (employees only)

- You will need to do the following once to get set up with SSO and CNC Connect.
- Get your user ID from CNC Connect
- Get your password from CNC Connect
- Log in to CNC Connect using the password sent to your email account in step 2
- Change your password (which will synchronize all passwords - Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, etc)
- You can now use this user ID and password to log into Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, Wireless, etc
- You will need to do the following once to get set up with SSO and CNC Connect.
- Log in to CNC Connect
- Change your password (which will synchronize all passwords - Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, etc)
- You can now use this user ID and password to log into Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, Wireless, etc
- You will need to do the following once to get set up with SSO and CNC Connect.
- Reset your CNC Connect password. Follow the steps in the link to have your CNC Connect password reset. If your birthday worked, and your password reset was succesful then you're done! If you could not log in using your birthday, and had to have your password emailed to you, then continue with the steps below. Every employee now has a CNC Connect account whether they use CNC Connect or not.
- Log into your webmail using your 7 digit Employee Number (found on your pay stub or ID card) as the password.
- Find the email from CNC Connect with your new CNC Connect password. It may take up to an hour to appear (but should appear right away)
- Log in to CNC Connect using your current user ID (the one you use to log into Windows) and the password that was sent to your email in step 3
- Change your password (which will synchronize all passwords - Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, etc)
- You can now use this user ID and password to log into Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, Employee Intranet, etc
- You will need to do the following once to get set up with SSO and CNC Connect.
- Log in to CNC Connect
- Change your password (which will synchronize all passwords - Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, etc)
- You can now use this user ID and password to log into Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, Employee Intranet, etc
- You will need to synchronize your passwords by changing your password on CNC Connect. Then you will be able to access the employee intranet with your windows password. If you still cannot access the employee intranet, contact the helpdesk.
What's my user ID? (if you have never logged into a CNC system)
- If you have already accessed CNC systems (Windows, CNC Connect, SurgeWeb, etc), your user ID is NOT changed, so there is no need to do the following, your user ID is the same it has always been.
- Open Internet Explorer and go to www.cnc.bc.ca/cncconnect
- Click the link "What's My User ID?" in the top right corner
- Give your last name and Student/Employee ID or SIN number and you will get your user ID
What's my password?
- Open Internet Explorer and go to CNC Connect
- If you're never used CNC Connect, by default, your password is usually your birthday in the format YYMMDD. Try to log in using that, and if it does not work follow the remaining steps below. If it does work (you log in successfully), then Change your password
- Click the link "What's My Password?" in the top right corner
- If this is NOT your first time using CNC Connect, and you previously entered a password hint, you can click the link "Show my password hint" and you will be given a hint
- If the hint does not help, or you do not have a hint, click the "Reset my password link"
- Provide your last name and Student/Employee ID or SIN number
- Select an email address to have your new password sent to. If no email addresses appear, or the ones that appear are not current, contact the Admissions department at cncconnect@cnc.bc.ca to register a new email address
- An email will be sent within the next hour (it is usually sent right away)
- Log into whichever email account you had the password sent to and get the new password. Note that with Hotmail, etc the email may appear in your Junk folder
- Log in to CNC Connect with this new password
- Change your password
How do I login to CNC Connect?
- Open Internet Explorer and go to www.cnc.bc.ca/cncconnect
- Click the link "Log in" in the top right corner
- Use your CNC Connect user ID and password
How do I change/synchronize my password?
- Open Internet Explorer and go to www.cnc.bc.ca/cncconnect
- Click the link "Log in" in the top right corner
- Use your CNC Connect user ID and password
- After you have logged in, there will be a link at the top of the screen that says "Change Password" (see picture above). Click it and provide a new password (must be at least 7 characters and contain a number).
- NOTE: This will change your password for all of the above mentioned systems. The change may take up to an hour, but should occur right away
My password for Windows/Webmail/CNC Connect used to work, but now it doesn't?
- Change your password
- Wait an hour
- If the system still does not work, contact helpdesk@cnc.bc.ca or phone local 812
CNC Connect is giving me an error?
- Send an email to cncconnect@cnc.bc.ca with a descriptive summary of your problem
I'm a student/employee in a regional campus, and the password change is not working?
- Once you've changed your password in CNC Connect, the change may take up to a half hour to take effect in the regional campuses.
- If after a half an hour the change has not taken effect, please contact the helpdesk at helpdesk@cnc.bc.ca
My password reset request is not showing up in my email?
- The email from CNC Connect may take up to 20 minutes to arrive, so please be patient.
- It may also get redirected to your spam folder, so check there as well. It will be an email from cncconnect@cnc.bc.ca and have the subject "CNC Connect Response".
- If after an hour you still have not received the password reset email, please contact the Admissions department at cncconnect@cnc.bc.ca
