CNC's Synchronized Sign On (SSO)

If you were trying to access a secure page and ended up here, or if you want to set up your CNC account you have to syncrhonize your password:

To Synchronize your CNC passwords, change your password in CNC Connect.

Then all of the systems listed below will have the same username and password.

If you do not have a CNC Connect account, are not sure what the password is, etc use the steps below.

Further Information

As of June 20th, 2007 CNC computer accounts are managed through CNC Connect. To use any of the systems below you need to synchronize your passwords once using CNC Connect. You may change your password at any time (as many times as you like, IT Services recommends changing your password every 90 days).

I'm a student/alumni and I've never used CNC Connect, what do I need to do?

  1. Get your user ID from CNC Connect
  2. Get your password from CNC Connect
  3. Log in to CNC Connect using the password sent to your email account in step 2
  4. Change your password (which will synchronize all passwords - Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, etc)
  5. You can now use this user ID and password to log into Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, Wireless, etc

I'm a student and I've used CNC Connect before, what do I need to do?

  1. Log in to CNC Connect
  2. Change your password (which will synchronize all passwords - Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, etc)
  3. You can now use this user ID and password to log into Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, Wireless, etc

I'm an employee and I've never used CNC Connect, what do I need to do?

  1. Reset your CNC Connect password. Follow the steps in the link to have your CNC Connect password reset. If your birthday worked, and your password reset was succesful then you're done! If you could not log in using your birthday, and had to have your password emailed to you, then continue with the steps below. Every employee now has a CNC Connect account whether they use CNC Connect or not.
  2. Log into your webmail using your 7 digit Employee Number (found on your pay stub or ID card) as the password.
  3. Find the email from CNC Connect with your new CNC Connect password. It may take up to an hour to appear (but should appear right away)
  4. Log in to CNC Connect using your current user ID (the one you use to log into Windows) and the password that was sent to your email in step 3
  5. Change your password (which will synchronize all passwords - Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, etc)
  6. You can now use this user ID and password to log into Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, Employee Intranet, etc

I'm an employee and I've used CNC Connect before, what do I need to do?

  1. Log in to CNC Connect
  2. Change your password (which will synchronize all passwords - Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, etc)
  3. You can now use this user ID and password to log into Windows, SurgeWeb, CNC Connect, Blackboard, Employee Intranet, etc

I'm an employee and and I can't access the Employee Intranet?

What's my user ID? (if you have never logged into a CNC system)

  1. If you have already accessed CNC systems (Windows, CNC Connect, SurgeWeb, etc), your user ID is NOT changed, so there is no need to do the following, your user ID is the same it has always been.
  2. Open Internet Explorer and go to www.cnc.bc.ca/cncconnect
  3. Click the link "What's My User ID?" in the top right corner
  4. Give your last name and Student/Employee ID or SIN number and you will get your user ID 

What's my password?

  1. Open Internet Explorer and go to CNC Connect
  2. If you're never used CNC Connect, by default, your password is usually your birthday in the format YYMMDD. Try to log in using that, and if it does not work follow the remaining steps below. If it does work (you log in successfully), then Change your password
  3. Click the link "What's My Password?" in the top right corner
  4. If this is NOT your first time using CNC Connect, and you previously entered a password hint, you can click the link "Show my password hint" and you will be given a hint
  5. If the hint does not help, or you do not have a hint, click the "Reset my password link"
  6. Provide your last name and Student/Employee ID or SIN number
  7. Select an email address to have your new password sent to. If no email addresses appear, or the ones that appear are not current, contact the Admissions department at cncconnect@cnc.bc.ca to register a new email address
  8. An email will be sent within the next hour (it is usually sent right away)
  9. Log into whichever email account you had the password sent to and get the new password. Note that with Hotmail, etc the email may appear in your Junk folder
  10. Log in to CNC Connect with this new password
  11. Change your password

How do I login to CNC Connect?

  1. Open Internet Explorer and go to www.cnc.bc.ca/cncconnect
  2. Click the link "Log in" in the top right corner
  3. Use your CNC Connect user ID and password 

How do I change/synchronize my password?

  1. Open Internet Explorer and go to www.cnc.bc.ca/cncconnect
  2. Click the link "Log in" in the top right corner
  3. Use your CNC Connect user ID and password
  4. After you have logged in, there will be a link at the top of the screen that says "Change Password" (see picture above). Click it and provide a new password (must be at least 7 characters and contain a number).
  5. NOTE: This will change your password for all of the above mentioned systems. The change may take up to an hour, but should occur right away

My password for Windows/Webmail/CNC Connect used to work, but now it doesn't?

  1. Change your password
  2. Wait an hour
  3. If the system still does not work, contact helpdesk@cnc.bc.ca or phone local 812

CNC Connect is giving me an error?

  1. Send an email to cncconnect@cnc.bc.ca with a descriptive summary of your problem 

I'm a student/employee in a regional campus, and the password change is not working?

My password reset request is not showing up in my email?
