Can I read/send email using this system from somewhere else?
What browser's are supported for reading email?
What does my browser need to be able to use SurgeWeb?
What clients are supported for reading email?
Accessing email can be done through a browser or a email client. As of March 2010, IT Services still supports the use of Internet Explorer (IE) as the browser and SurgeWeb as the web interface to read and send email.
Simply launch (start) IE and enter https://mail.cnc.bc.ca/surgeweb into the address bar and then login using the same credentials as what you use to login to the Windows network at the college.
The use of the SurgeWeb interface permits you to access your email from anywhere in the world. This includes all of the features of SurgeWeb, not just reading or sending emails.
Most (if not all) modern browsers support SurgeWeb. Among them the following are known to work:
The Adobe Flash plugin will be required to send attachments, see the What does my browser need? for further information about that.
To utilize attachments within SurgeWeb the browse must have Adobe's Flash installed. The flash version should be the latest possible version. The last testing done on using attachments showed Flash version 10 to work perfectly.
