Distance Education

Improved access to education for all students is an important element of the College of New Caledonia. New developments in distance education are improving access and the equity of opportunity throughout the north. The college uses a variety of distributed learning initiatives to reach students. Supported by the college and community resources, these courses are available to learners in their home communities. Distance education programs being offered at CNC Mackenzie Campus are: Applied Business Technology (Office Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, and Legal Administrative Assistant) Certificates and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Certifications.

First Nations programs

CNC works closely with First Nations in the northern interior to assist in the development and delivery of adult education programs. Through our Aboriginal Liaison and in collaboration with our Aboriginal Resource Centre, CNC Mackenzie offers students access to information on entering college, choosing career paths, and accessing funding to attend school.

The Mackenzie Campus works in partnership with local First Nations including Kwadacha First Nation, McLeod Lake Indian Band, and Tsay Keh Dene to offer a variety of courses. Recent courses delivered in the communities include: Academic Upgrading, computer training, entrepreneur training, first aid, babysitting, driver training, safety training, and forestry courses.

Computer facilities

The Mackenzie Campus has six computer labs accessible to students, the public, and academic and/or corporate partners. The campus provides access to more than 50 computers fully networked using Windows 7 and Office 2010 environments. All computers have high-speed internet access.
