Natural Resources and Forest Technology

The NRFT program at CNC puts YOU in technology – naturally!

Our interdisciplinary program is your gateway to exciting and fulfilling career opportunities in the natural resources sector across a range of industries. Read more about the subjects we teach, check out the additional resources and information about the sector and read about the various pathways you can follow to achieve stimulating and rewarding careers.

NRFT students gain valuable theoretical knowledge in the classroom and explore practical technology applications in the field. Combining classroom and laboratory work with field exercises and team projects provides our students with enhanced problem solving and critical thinking skills valued by employers.

Land use and resource management has become a global phenomenon. Sustainability of natural systems, international policy development and climate change require collaborative global approaches. Students interested in international issues can compare and contrast BC to other jurisdictions by participating in our International Field School.

Our faculty and staff have real-life experience in the natural resources sector and are actively engaged with industry and in applied research in our research forest. Including our students in research projects strengthens experiential and collaborative learning—positioning graduates for greater success in their careers.

Why NRFT? Challenge current environmental issues, spend your days outdoors, make a difference in how human activities impact natural resources and expand technological applications in land use and land stewardship. NRFT starts with forestry—where it takes you from there is up to you!
