CNC Board approves collective agreement with Faculty Association

CNC’s Board of Governors ratified a new collective agreement Friday between the College of New Caledonia and its Faculty Association.

“We are delighted to have worked out an agreement with our Faculty Association and hope to have official government approval in the near future,” said CNC President John Bowman.

The agreement will now go to the provincial government for final approval.

CNC dental hygiene students set to leave for Tanzania

Six CNC dental hygiene students and their instructor will head to Tanzania next week to provide preventative oral health care treatment to children, adults and seniors.

Describing it as an “unreal experience,” the students will be going for two weeks as part of Projects Abroad, a volunteer organization which provides meaningful and safe work and study placements around the world.

“We’re working with two orphanages and a hospital,” said Megan Ball, a first-year dental hygiene student. “The wealthy class has access to dental care, but we’ll be seeing children who have never seen a dentist and the people who are in the hospital are there because they’re in so much pain.”

This latest honour comes after a busy year of accolades for the Godfather of Hip-Hop, which include receiving an Award of Merit from the Black Business Professional Association, and gracing the cover of Sway Magazine for their Black History Edition in February 2011
